Christmas Morn

Christmas morning was fun as usual!  I am so glad that we get to spend these early years with our little Avery Grace.  One day I am sure they may switch and start having Christmas morning at their house but for now we love it just the way it is.

My Girls!

This is proof that Gods word is true.  I asked for scarves.  I GOT SCARVES!   'Ask and you shall receive!'  There were more where that came from too.  I now have a scarf collection.

Avery thought Josh needed a little help opening his stuff.  She is so sweet to help!

Josh liked what was in this little box.  CASH!

 Charlie liked his hat!
 Josh took a turn.

Down, Set, Hut

Marks new clothes.

She was happy happy happy when we reminded her there were stockings after gifts!

And look what Todd got!  So happy about his ipad.  Can you tell what the first site he went to?  Oh good grief...
Christmas was great.  We enjoyed each other and exchanging gifts.  We got nice and full of Charlies Fried Turkey and my yummy Dressing.

Averys favorite gift this year was her Easy Bake Oven from her Pawpaw and Mawmaw Lynn  They definately win the gold star for gifts this year.

I got some very nice perfume.  I havent had any perfume in such a long time.  It smells so good!

Casey really likes her Keurig.  I am so glad.

There were jackets, shirts, books, CD's, Footballs, Candy, Jewelry, Barbies, Shoes and such. We are really blessed.  I am very thankful for the one true gift that God gave which is the whole reason for Christmas in the first place.  I am so glad that we have taught our children about the greatest gift.  THANK YOU GOD!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Eve

I have no idea what Avery was doing in that first picture but I thought it was interesting.  :)

On Christmas Eve this year we ended up having a house full.  The plan was to have everyone for dinner on Christmas Day but the weather pushed Todds parents visit a day early.  A storm was on the way for Christmas Day and they didnt want to make the trip in it.  I dont blame them, so they came up Christmas Eve and just so happened I made enough dinner for everyone.  So we were good to go!  We ended up exchanging gifts with them.  Here is Todd with our VCR.  Yes I said VCR!  So we can watch our old Video Tapes of the kids when they were little.  Anyone wanna come over and watch family movies with us?  No??

Gigi and Pap brought Avery money, plus this...

Then the kids exchanged gifts.  Avery opened her gift from Uncle Mark and Uncle Josh.
 It was definitely a hit!
 There were Thank You hugs!

Of course the best part was spending time together with everyone.
Unfortunately the worst part was that I almost killed Pawpaw.  He has this esophagus problem.  Something like reflux.  If he isnt REAL careful it becomes a problem.  My roast I made that day became an issue.  He was fine while they were here and nothing appeared to be a problem.  However once they got home he couldnt keep anything down.  Not even water.  So off to the hospital they went.  He ended up having to have a procedure on Christmas Day or the day after. (I cant remember now)  He had a large piece of my roast stuck blocking his esophagus.  NICE, I know...  Thankfully they removed it and he is fine now.  I may or may not invite him back to eat with us.  (I do not want to be responsible for choking him, no thank you)

I think the kids enjoyed doing the Christmas Eve thing with Mamaw and Papaw just like when they were little.  Revisiting an old tradition made for a Merry Christmas Eve for us.

Being a Nonna

It was very nice to have Avery stay with Nonna and Poppa this past weekend.  It doesnt hurt for her to have a little time away from home every now and again.  We had a really good time.

I always wanted to be the kind of grandparent who spent plenty of time with my grandkids.  I only had one living grandparent when I was born.  I never spent much time with Ma.  I remember going to her apartment some when I was little but Mama was always with me.  I never remember spending time with her alone.  At some point we moved away and honestly I never really had a close relationship with her.  I loved her and enjoyed seeing her but we werent really that close. Therefore I always wanted to make sure I developed that relationship with my grandchildren.  So I am blessed to take advantage of our time with Avery and hope to be able to do that with any future grandchildren God may bless us with.

We did a few fun things together.  First of all I had bought a Gingerbread House Kit last week.  It was sitting on top of my refrigerator waiting for her visit.  She spotted it first thing and couldnt wait to get into it.  So we put it together almost right away.  Thankfully our friend Lessley came by the house with Tance to see Josh.  She helped us out.  It was fun and Avery was pleased with our project.  Sorry no pictures (they are on my phone) but trust me it is CUTE!

We got out early Saturday morning and Avery ended up coming home with this prize.  She was so pleased!  We immediately colored and painted!

We took a few Christmas pictures in front of my tree.

We had tea parties.  We played Ladderball out back.  We went shopping. I wrapped presents and Avery put them under the tree.  When she saw one with AVERY on it, she said "NO WAY, that one has my name on it!"  We picked an ornament for my tree.  Well SHE picked an ornament.  I think this may be a tradition.  Last year she picked a pretty cupcake.  This year, a beautiful ballerina.  I like that tradition.   I painted her fingernails.   We went to the Bakery and got CUPCAKES!  We read books.  And of course we got Avery a Taco Burger from Taco Casa.  That is definitely the place to go if you ask her.  :)  She begged for TWO taco burgers  but was okay with one since we threw in a pink slushy!  :)

Saturday night the living room was full of Josh and his friends, like it usually is when he is home.  Todd and I retreated to our bedroom and Avery went back and forth between our room and the living room.  She would come in there and say "Nonna, can I get up there with yall and spend some time with you?"  So she would do that for 5 or 10 minutes, and then say "I am gonna go hang out with the guys now"  and run down the hall and stay there for 5 or 10 minutes,  then back to us and the exact same conversation.  Back and forth...

I am glad we had this weekend and cant wait for more to come!

I Was Right!

I knew I was right about not raking the leaves. (Or having them raked.)

Then we would never have been able to have all this
FUN!

The Good Lord knows we dont get to make Snow Angels very often, but this is the next best thing!
I knew I was right...

More Zoo Fun

 What a sweetie.

This is Uncle Johnny getting Avery one of those flattened out pennies as a souvenir from the Zoo.  I remember loving those as a kid.

 More animals

Aww, he so pecious!    NOT

Running wild and free!

We loved the petting zoo.  It was sorta stinky though, if I do say so myself.

These are some huge strange creatures.  Wonder what God was thinking when he made these...

Thoughts of Grandma and Casey:  Phew, lets rest a second!     Thoughts of Avery:  Lets go over there!

Whats in here????
Wish we could go again this weekend!  :)
